The story of Cantine Zuffa

ZUFFA: It’s my surname, the surname of my family, which, generation after generation, has dedicated its life to a purpose consisting of a few firm objectives:

SOUL: It is the eternal, the infinite, that which cannot be harnessed by matter and words, that which does not make us give up even when faced with the logic of doing so, because it allows us to see beyond and beyond.

WINE: It was born on Earth tens of millions of years ago, long before man… It is the drink that came from India (from the ancient Sanskrit Vena: to Love), to Mesopotamia, to Egypt, to Greece, where Oenology was born (οἶνος: wine; λόγος: study), to the Roman Empire and to the present day…

Like Michelangelo, despite having dozens of great artists following him, chose the marble alone in Massa Carrara in the 16th century, today we select our grapes ourselves and by hand, bunch by bunch, despite this requiring much more energy than mechanical harvesting. Just as Michelangelo saw “David” and “La Pietà” within the marble, so we see each of our wines within those bunches.

Mother Nature creates marble just as she creates grapes. In addition to know how to choose them, you also need to shape them: just as Michelangelo had the best equipment available at the time in his workshops, so we use the best technologies available today, many of which are patented, to shape the grapes naturally, using only organic products and following organic criteria. Our mission is to protect the quality created by nature in the grape bunch.

Sculpture, like a bottle of wine, is like a table supported by three legs, each of which is essential:

– a high-quality raw material
– extraordinarily innovative technologies and equipment
– a deep knowledge of the producer, as well as the sculptor

We are citizens of the world, and it is wonderful and extraordinary to engage with and learn from each culture, from the closest to the most distant. We do so by trying to give at least as much as we receive from others.

Our cradle is Italy, the land of Leonardo, Michelangelo, and Raphael, the land of inventors, the land of fashion, the land of sport cars, the land of beauty and goodness, the land with the greatest artistic wealth in the world, the land with the greatest food and wine wealth in the world, and the land of so much more.

Our wines are the memory and testimony of this, as history, culture, tradition, and territory.
